Donna brings with her a reputation as a trophy-winning liar and five books worth of tellable stories, facts, and quotations that capture what is quirky and iconic about the state of Texas. More than a keeper of regional stories, however, she also passes on universal truths through her tales—but with a Texas twang.
Listeners hear tall tales about Texas flora and fauna and the good ol’ boys. They enter into the magic of storytelling through word pictures that recall the myths, legends, and history of Texas and the Southwest. And they may be privy to some really funny personal stories.
A native Texan, Ingham grew up on the South Plains and in the Panhandle and later lived in the Rio Grande Valley. She now lives in the Texas Hill Country and travels all over the state and beyond performing. Her credits include appearances in Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, Utah, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, New York, and Ireland.
A recipient of the John Henry Faulk Award for outstanding contributions to the art of storytelling, she is on the touring artists roster of both the Texas Commission on the Arts and the Mid-America Arts Alliance.
